Oregon Shakespeare Festival 2024 Season Announcement
Tim Bond, OSF’s new artistic director, and Evren Odcikin, associate artistic director, announced the festival’s 2024 season and it looks like pretty good. There were rumblings that the season would be shorter than usual (it will be) and that it would feature some smaller casts (it does) but despite those changes, the lineup offers something for everyone. Macbeth and Much Ado about Nothing are two of my favorites from the Shakespeare canon. There are also four one-person shows that look interesting. A small scale rock musical, Lizard Boy, has a catchy score and was a hit Off-Broadway. I have no problem with Jane Eyre. And Born with Teeth, an imagined meeting between Christopher Marlowe and Will Shakespeare could be fun. All in all, a 9 play season running from mid March to mid September is more than I expected, given OSF’s recent financial struggles and staffing upheavals.
